“Damn. Now that’s meta.” v2.0

Christian Lindholm moblogging about the “death of the CRT.”

Life only truly exists on a human scale. So, I have always found it is these small personal moments that have the most profound emotional impact in driving home larger changes that we may already understand intellectually. I wrote a little while back about “freedom from the small and binding circles of habitual existence;” but, the fact of the matter is that we are creatures of habit and we are most acutely aware of change when it intrudes upon our daily routine. It might just be me, but I think if you pay attention you will find that no matter how high-minded we try to be, it is only change which affects us as individuals that we truly feel viscerally.

All of that said, you are really a true tech geek when seeing a guy hauling away computer monitors provokes an emotional realization of the “end of an era.”

Damned Flash!

Simon Levene wearing a 3GSM badge that says he’s Terry Semel. The flash is reflecting off the badge holder, so you’ll have to trust me.

Lloyd, Toby, and Weiner may be bigger targets for Valleywag because of their titles. But, I think Corp Devers will agree that the exploits of Mr. Levene would make for even more interesting reading.

More Backstage at CES Keynote

This is a 50′ diagonal rear-projection screen. Which means that the image appears reversed (like in a mirror) to anyone looking at it from backstage, as I was. At a certain point while Marco (my boss) and Dan (Yahoo! COO) were onstage, Terry (Yahoo! CEO ) was walking around backstage near me and  noticed that the text on the screen was reversed. He was kinda freaked out for a second until I reminded him that it was rear-projection and looked normal to the audience.

You can watch the whole keynote (properly oriented) here. And check out the Yahoo! Go suite of products that we launched at CES 2006 here. To those of you who don’t know what I do at Yahoo!, this is it – all of these products were created by my group, and I am proud to have been part of the team that helped launch them in such a spectacular way at CES 2006.
