These are my Delicious links for September 11th through September 15th:
- Vote for Change – Very well-designed user-friendly voter registration site.
- TC50: Iamnews Emerges From The DemoPit To Win People’s Choice – Nir, a very nice guy and our neighbor in the TechCrunch50 Demo Pit, won the People's Choice award for his company Iamnews, a crowdsourced newsroom paltform.
- Smack My Pitch Up: Cheap, bad pitch party upstages expensive, bad pitch party – This contest to see who could come up with the worst pitch in 45 seconds was probably the best part of TechCrunch50.
- Yodel Anecdotal » Blog Archive » Talkin’ about Girl Talk – The official recap of Girl Talk's (awesome) performance at Yahoo! Open Hack Day '08. Includes a reference to: "newly-minted celebrities, like that guy with the awesome mustache." Wonder who that could be…
- Seafood Selector – Environmental Defense Fund – List of different kinds of seafood ranked by eco-friendliness. Can be printed in a wallet card, or accessed on the phone at http://m.edf.org/seafood.
- Girl Turk: Mechanical Turk Meets Girl Talk’s “Feed the Animals” – Waxy.org – *Awesome* crowd-sourced analysis of the samples on Girl Talk's latest album. The methodology (in the latter half of the post) is IMHO more interesting than the results: Wikipedians had previously identified all 264 samples and their start-times on each track, and then Andy used Amazon's Mechanical Turk to research the release years of each song. Very cool stuff in the abstract, and an added level on which to appreciate the album and Gregg's work.
- When Algorithms Attack: How Googlebot And Tribune (And Some Idiot) Killed United Airlines Stock – Detailed analysis of how an random story from 2002 showing up on the homepage of the Florida Sun-Sentinel's site triggered a series of automated (and stupid) events resulting in the evaporation of ~$1.4B of UAL's market cap.
